The Laurisilva forest is a living fossil, and its endemic pigeon is its silent guardian. With Relic in Flight, I wanted to freeze a moment that feels prehistoric—a bird found nowhere else on earth navigating a forest that once covered Europe. By guiding the algorithm, I focused on the contrast between the motion of flight and the ancient, static weight of the lichen-covered branches, creating an image that bridges millions of years.
