Anyone can press a button. That's not the work — that's the doorway.
The work is taste. Knowing why one frame holds and a thousand don't. Hours on light, texture and color until the wild looks the way it feels.
I treat AI as a medium to be molded — the way photographers once treated film. The tool is generative. Every decision is mine.
I call it Artistic Intelligence: chaipeau's craft of turning generative tools into nature art worth living with. It's the most honest creative work I've ever done.
How the Work Gets Made
No magic button — an expedition. Every collection is built like a documentary production: weeks of research into one place — its geology, its wildlife, its light by latitude and month — before a single frame is generated.
Then the slow part: hundreds of frames per scene, hours on light, texture and color until one holds. The one percent that truly resonates gets to exist. The rest never leaves the studio.
Behind it runs a production framework in its sixth major version — version-controlled like software, broken and rebuilt with every collection. Every new production has to make the last one feel like a rough draft.
The Discipline Behind It
Twenty years in design and digital craft. Schooled on Hasselblad and Nikon systems — architecture, wildlife, landscape. I left the camera behind, not the discipline: light, texture and composition still decide whether a frame lives.
I treat AI like clay: messy, powerful, meant to be molded. As a member of the Figma Weave Artist Collective, I help shape the tools themselves — replacing randomness with repeatable craft.
The barrier to entry in AI art is low. The barrier to excellence is exactly as high as it's always been.
